Sending a task

Sending a task to someone else who uses Maitland, contacts, and receiving.

You can send a task to someone else who uses Maitland by putting @name anywhere in what you type.

@sarah book the vet

The name comes off the task. If you’re dictating, say it at the start, as in “send a task to Sarah,” and then pause. A name in the middle of a sentence is never treated as someone to send to, so “Tell Bill to buy crackers” stays your own task.

The name has to match one of your contacts. There’s no directory of people who use Maitland, so you swap contacts by hand. On the iPhone, send someone the link from SHARE MY CONTACT LINK in Settings → General, and open theirs when they send it back. The web can only share your link after you’ve opened the iPhone app on your account.

Your device encrypts the task so only the other person’s devices can open it. Maitland’s servers can see who sent it, who it’s for and when, but they can’t read it.

Receiving a task

A task sent to you doesn’t come with a notification. Something arrived. shows up on Today until you open Mail in the side menu. The sender isn’t told whether you looked, and getting a task doesn’t mean you’ve agreed to do it. You can block or report a contact, or a task someone sent you.
